CV template: Temp job

It’s fair to say that when people consider a new job, a temp job is rarely their first thought. But as temp jobs need to be filled quickly, since their need arises for a variety of ad hoc reasons, such as sickness cover and annual leave, they’re an ideal career move for many.

But if you’ve had one or two temp jobs, you might be wondering how to phrase them on your CV.

To help you land an interview, we’ve worked with the experts at StandOut CV to produce a ‘temp job’ CV template.

This CV template will help you phrase and structure your experience from temp jobs in the most effective way. Just bear in mind that this is a guide and you must give it a personal spin and tailor it to your experience and abilities.

Keep your career summary as simple as possible

If you’ve worked for several temp agencies, you’ve probably worked at a whole host of companies and organisations. But if you list every placement in your career summary individually, the recruiter is going to get confused and bored very quickly – plus you’ll look uncommitted.

Instead, list every temp agency as your employer and summarise the markets it operates in and the types of clients you’ve worked for. Then detail your key responsibilities and achievements during your time with the agency. This will make a simpler read that demonstrates your skills effectively.
Keep it relevant

Temp jobs might be on the rise, but you need to make sure your CV showcases relevant skills so you can stave off the competition.

When listing your skills and experience from each temp role, you need to ensure you list skills that prove you’re a great fit for the job you’re applying to.

Therefore, go through the job description, highlighting skills that you match. It’s these skills you need to mention on your CV. Don’t be afraid to mimic the phrasing of the requirements either – if anything this makes it more obvious that you’re a decent match to the position.
