CV template: Teacher

If you’re just starting out in your teaching career, or are a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience, perfecting your CV is an important part of the job hunt.

To help you get it right, we’ve worked with the experts at StandOut CV and have produced a handy teacher CV template for you.
Sell yourself in your profile

Your CV should open with a punchy one or two line sentence that sums you up. This needs to appeal to your target employers and recruiters. You should provide a high-level overview of your teaching career. Include ages and subjects you teach, types of schools you have taught at and any specialisms you possess within your field.

At the same time, you need this to reflect the job description of the role you’re applying to. This will give you a better chance of bagging yourself an interview. Try to pick out a few keywords from the job advert and drop these into your opening paragraph. This shows you’re the perfect fit for the role.

Provide detail in your career summary
Within your employment experience section, you should provide a high-level overview of each role you have worked in. This should show how you fit into the school, what year/subject you teach and any key responsibilities you hold. Showcase as much of your skills and knowledge as possible and use professional language, showing how your duties impact the school and children.

Just remember – you can provide less detail the further down your CV you go. You could also try to add at least one example of a project you worked on outside of classroom teaching. After all, schools want teachers that can act as the whole package.
