CV template: Internship
Internships are a great way to get your foot in the door if you’re early on in your career or about to switch career paths, and it’s paramount that you make the most of them if you want to stand out in an increasingly competitive job market.
But to secure one, you need to make sure your CV is tailored to suit.
To help you out, we’ve worked with the experts at StandOut CV to create an internship CV template for you.
While this template will help you structure your CV so it showcases your relevant skills, it should only be treated as a guide – otherwise, your CV is unlikely to be natural, honest, and ultimately, persuasive.

Spruce up your personal profile
To make sure you hook, line and sinker from the off, you need to make sure your personal profile is impressive and relevant.
In a few lines, simply say who you are, what you are looking to do and your career goals. It’s important to tailor your personal profile to the internship in question and be as specific as possible.
For example, if you’re applying for an internship in graphic design, don’t just write that you want to enter a creative industry, say you want to pursue a career in graphic design. This will show recruiters why they should offer you the placement over other applicants.
Highlight your placements and projects
To compromise for your lack of experience, it’s worth swapping out the ‘career summary’ or ‘employment history’ section of your CV and replacing it with a ‘placements and projects’ section.
Aim to detail any impressive projects from in or outside of your education and, as ever, don’t forget to keep this section tailored to the internship you’re applying for.
Make the most of your interests
If you haven’t quite filled your two-page CV, you can pop in a few hobbies and interest that are relevant to the internship. This shows just how serious you are about pursuing a career in the industry. Plus, it shows your prospective employer how well you’re suited to the placement.
If you have any interests that could generally be deemed as impressive, such as volunteering or travelling, make note of these too, as they prove you’ve got potential.
